The world lost a bright light yesterday. Erin Howarth died, 3 years after discovering she had breast cancer. She fought tirelessly, bravely, fearlessly and never lost her sense of humor. I had the great honor of photographing her wedding in Spain - the subject of many posts here. She and her husband Adam made a perfect union. Today I am devastated - for Adam, her family, and for anyone who ever knew her.
I lost my mother to cancer when I was 14. When Erin asked me to shoot her wedding, she told me her story. I had an instant bond with her. And when I was working with her and Adam, I was capturing friends, not subjects. I knew her for 2 short years. And I knew going in that she had cancer. But the heartache I feel today - the loss, sadness and grief - are worth having known her. Rest well, Erin.
